Red-dy for the Holidays! :P

I just got OPI Honey Ryder Liquid Sand, and I love EVERYTHING about it. So I wanted to do something with it right away. Since the holidays are coming, I decided to go for a "Christmasy" look.

The first thing that came to mind was, of course, red. I chose NYX Lingerie, a dark red shimmer, which goes perfectly with Honey Ryder's gold shade.

I'm still trying to get the hang of the nail tape, so it was kinda hard to get the index finger nail right.

I really loved working with the Liquid Sand, it dried quickly and looks amazing. I love the texture and the sparkle it gives to the nail. There's absolutely nothing I don't  love about it!! I guess I'll be doing more manis with  it! :D

Glitter and Gold

Well, almost 5 months later I'm BACK! (sorry!)

For the second time, my "hand model" is my mom, who helped design this awesome mani! Aaaaand, this is my first nail tape mani ever! It wasn't as hard as I thought! HA!

I like to see this as a nail tape mani, but also as a french tip alternative. So if you are a french tip girl who wants a twist to her every day mani, this will work great!

Nail Tape Glitter Mani

I tried to keep it simple and elegant. We used a nude shade that works as the base, golden nail tape and some glittery stuff my mom had stored (it was a fine glitter with lightly colored particles, it's really nice!).

Base and top coat: Sally Hansen Advanced Hard as Nails
Nude base: Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Barely There

I bought the nail tape (in a 10 color pack or something like that) from Amazon. It costs less than $2 (plus shipping), but I wouldn't recommend it. After one or two days of having her nails like this, the "paint" from the tape started peeling off at some points and now it looks silver (I'm just wondering what color will the silver one get...).

However, this is my first time using nail tape, maybe there's some way of protecting the tape (maybe more top coat?).

Some more shots of my mom's nails:

To apply the nail tape I just placed it carefully over the "semi-humid" base and then pressed it down with a pair of tweezers (patiently and carefully), and then covered it with the top coat.
To add the glitter, I applied top coat to the tip of the nail (from the tape out) and sprinkled it over the tip, trying to not get any other part of the nail covered by it. Finally, I applied another layer of top coat, but instead of rolling it over the entire nail, I just gave a few taps with the brush to the tip.

Hope you liked this post! But mainly, that it will serve as an inspiration for a simple and elegant mani!

Aqua Dotticure

Hi! Today I bring you my first nail post!

This weekend I did my mom's nails. She's really traditional and doesn´t like too much color on her nails, but she saw what I had done on mine and asked for the same design. I was sooo nervous cause she's a tough customer. But it turned out alright, she hasn't taken the polish off yet :).

This is how her nails look now!

For the base I used Essie Chinchilly. For the dots: Essie Mint & Candy Apple, Essie Turquoise and Caicos, Sally Hansen White On and Revlon Nail Art Expressionist Monet Monet. And Sally Hansen Hard As Nails as base and top coat.

(Ooops! Forgot the white one :P)

From Revlon I just used the kind of yellowish one, the green side was a little darker than the rest (and too similar to Essie's Turquoise and Caicos). (By the way, I love this Revlon polishes, they have two colors and one of their brushes has a smaller tip brush for drawing lines or details easily)

I'm still waiting for my dotting tools to arrive in the mail, so I had to make my own tools for this mani... They work great, actually, haha.

I alternated the colors of the bigger dots on each nail so they wouldn't all look the same. I didn't do this with White On because I thought it would give the nail a different color scheme from the rest; I used that only for the smallest dots to bring some "brightness" to the nail.

I had some trouble applying the base. It wasn't as fluid as I would've liked. When this happens I apply two coats of base coat to minimize the irregularities on the surface of the nail, but I didn't have much time on saturday...

That'll be my first mani on the blog. Hope you enjoyed it! Feel free to comment your suggestions or reactions to this! :D Sorry if the pictures aren't the greatest quality, I'm still getting the hang of this...

Thanks for stopping by!

First post! More coming soon :D

Hi! First, thanks for checking out my blog :D. I'm really new at this, but I hope soon enough I'll be posting some nail designs.

Just a little about me... I'm a civil engineering student from Costa Rica. I have a fatal obsession for nail polish, even though I don't own that many of them. Since I'm from Costa Rica, I expect to have bilingual posts on the blog eventually (and also because of this, excuse me if my english isn't perfect).

I have a couple of posts already planned, and my tests are almost over :) So I'll be posting something soon! If you're curious, subscribe or keep checking the blog ;) (hope I can figure out how to get the email subscription gadget on).

Guess that'll be my first post. Keep visiting the site please! I promise I'll have some nice stuff in the future.

Until then...
Andrea :D
